Services
From battery pack calibration to manufacturer software reprogramming, plus specialist bodywork and paint. By appointment, with a written fixed quote.
Calibration, module- and cell-level repair, and full replacement when it is the only option. We recover packs the official service would write off.
Read with manufacturer tooling, not a generic scanner. We identify the actual fault, not just the error code, saving you unnecessary work.
Updates to the latest manufacturer version, BMS reprogramming and recovery of original functions lost after non-official work.
Before you buy a used EV, we inspect it: real battery health (SoH), history, structural and electronic diagnosis. Report signed by our lead technician.
Installation with certified electrical documentation, service and repair of major wallbox brands. On-site diagnosis if your charger throws errors.
Reducer oil (yes, EVs have oil too), cabin filters, specific coolant, regenerative brakes, tyres and pre-ITV preparation.
Bodywork with a booth and materials approved for electric vehicles, with specific protocols for areas near batteries or high-voltage components.
EVs are heavier and demand more from tyres. We work with premium brands and models specifically approved for electric and hybrid vehicles.
Ceramic coatings, upholstery decontamination and interior cleaning with electronics-safe products. Ideal for fleets and shared-use cars.

We are not a conventional workshop that "added" electric cars to its list. We were built, equipped and trained for this from day one. That is the difference.
We work with the same tools as the official service network. Same diagnostics, same reprogramming, same intervention capability.
Where the official service replaces the whole battery, we replace only the damaged module or cell. Real savings for you, same technical outcome.
Every technician holds specific high-voltage training and the right PPE. Pack work happens in a segregated area.
Clear diagnosis, a no-obligation written quote and an exit report covering everything done. What we would ask for ourselves.
Our own recovery truck plus partner service across the province. When the work requires it, we arrange a replacement vehicle.
About us
Taller Coche Eléctrico was founded in 2025 by David Mihaylov, whose team was named best workshop in 2024. We have more than 15 years in the trade and run two of the most modern, highest-capacity workshops in Spain, in Barcelona and Madrid.
"We got tired of seeing electric cars where the official service said 'replace the whole battery' when what they needed was three cells repaired. So we built the first multi-brand workshop with the same tooling, software and training as an official service centre, but with the freedom to work where they will not."
Today we operate from our two sites — Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona) and Alcobendas (Madrid) — and we are opening franchises across the rest of Spain. If the project interests you, get in touch.

Comparison
Quick summary: for most capacity losses or battery faults, repairing the damaged module or cells costs 50–80% less than replacing the whole pack, with the same technical result. Full replacement only makes sense with severe structural or thermal damage.
| Criteria | Pack replacement (usual official practice) | Module/cell repair (Taller Coche Eléctrico) |
|---|---|---|
| Guide cost | €12,000 – €25,000 | From €1,500 |
| What is replaced | The entire pack, even if only part fails | Only the damaged module or cells |
| Typical turnaround | 2 – 6 weeks (factory order) | 3 – 10 working days |
| Diagnosis | At whole-component level | At cell level, with manufacturer tooling |
| Warranty on the work | Per manufacturer | 2 years in writing |
| When it makes sense | Severe structural or thermal pack damage | Localised degradation, abnormal cells or modules |
Our recommendation as a workshop: before accepting a full-replacement quote, always ask for a module-level diagnosis. In our experience, a large share of the batteries "written off" by official service centres are recovered by repairing a fraction of the pack. And if replacement really is the only option, we do that too — and we will tell you just as plainly.
Prices and process

2026 guide
Because an EV does not fail like a combustion car, and diagnosing one requires training, tooling and high-voltage safety protocols a conventional workshop does not have. Beneath the apparent mechanical simplicity sit 400 or 800 V architectures, packs with hundreds of cells managed by a BMS, synchronous motors, inverters, dedicated liquid cooling and software that controls everything.
For years the electric car was sold in Spain as "the car that never breaks". Partly true: no engine oil, no clutch, no timing belt, no injectors. But when it does fail, it does not fail like a combustion car. Workshops with decades of engine experience, however good, do not always have the equipment investment or the safety protocols to tackle a high-voltage fault. It is not about attitude; it is about means.
Official service centres almost always work at whole-component level: if a battery loses capacity, the whole pack is replaced; if a module throws an error, the pack goes. On cars with 50, 75 or 100 kWh packs that means invoices around €12,000–€25,000. What very few people know is that, in a very high share of cases, the fault is one or two cells inside a module. With the training and tooling to diagnose at that level — and to open the pack safely — you repair the actual fault instead of replacing what is not broken. That is exactly what we do at Taller Coche Eléctrico, at our Sant Joan Despí and Alcobendas sites.
Pure electrics (BEV) — Tesla, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 6, Volkswagen ID, Kia EV6, BMW i4 and iX, Mercedes EQ — have no combustion: maintenance revolves around battery state of health (SoH), pack cooling, reducer oil, regenerative brakes and power electronics. Plug-in hybrids (PHEV) — Audi TFSIe, Volvo Recharge, Porsche E-Hybrid, BMW PHEVs — combine a combustion block with its classic maintenance and an electric system with a 12–25 kWh traction battery: they need a workshop that masters both. And mild hybrids (MHEV), with their 48 V starter-generator, are the simplest — but that 48 V system is not diagnosed with an old-school scanner either.
Once a year, or before buying or selling a used EV. Batteries degrade with use, but not linearly and not evenly across cells: we see cars at 80,000 km holding 95% capacity and others at 40,000 km down to 82%. The difference usually comes down to DC fast-charging frequency, temperature and typical discharge cycle. An SoH check with manufacturer tooling tells you real capacity, module balance and whether any cells show abnormal internal resistance.
No — and assuming "all EVs are the same inside" is a trap. A Tesla Model 3 has a centralised MCU, a temperamental 12 V LiFePO4 battery and its own diagnostic protocol. A BMW i4 or iX runs a programmable BMS and the manufacturer's ISTA software. A Hyundai Ioniq 5 uses the 800 V E-GMP platform with ultra-fast charging and its own thermal management. Every brand demands its own software, scanner and procedure — which is why we keep a technical page for each of the 56 brands we service.
It is more common than you would think: a large share of the cases we get are the wallbox or the installation, not the vehicle. Wallboxes that will not start a cycle, grid communication errors, undersized installations tripping the RCD. We are an authorised service point for the main charger brands: on-site diagnosis, repair or replacement, and new installations with certification.
Diagnosis with manufacturer tooling starts at €60; module-level battery repair from €1,500; software reprogramming €90–€250; a full wallbox installation €800–€1,800. These are guide ranges: every job is confirmed with a written quote before anything is touched, and what you see is what you pay.
Our main site is at Carrer del Tambor del Bruc, 3, Sant Joan Despí, three minutes from exit 13 of the B-23, with direct access from the AP-2 and the Ronda Litoral: the natural link between Barcelona city, the Baix Llobregat and the Vallès. The second site, at Calle Valgrande, 17, Alcobendas, sits next to the A-1, close to all of northern Madrid. The brand dates from 2025, but the team does not: both sites inherit facilities, technicians and procedures from workshops named best workshop in 2024, with more than 15 years behind them. We are also opening franchises across the rest of Spain; if the project interests you, write to us.
A practical note for anyone who has just switched to electric: the DGT ZERO emissions badge keeps driving and parking advantages in Barcelona and Madrid, and EU Regulation 461/2010 lets you keep the manufacturer warranty even when servicing at an independent workshop, provided its schedules are followed. That is how we work: quality original-standard parts, manufacturer procedures, everything documented in the exit report.

FAQ
Direct answers to the usual questions about faults, batteries, prices, services and locations.
A module- or cell-level repair starts at around €1,500, against the €12,000–€25,000 a full pack replacement usually costs. That is a saving of 50–80% in most cases. The exact figure depends on the model, pack capacity and damage. We always give a written fixed quote after diagnosis.
At Carrer del Tambor del Bruc, 3, 08970 Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), three minutes from exit 13 of the B-23 with direct access from the AP-2 and the Ronda Litoral. We cover the whole Barcelona province by appointment via WhatsApp or phone on +34 622 552 992.
Yes, our Madrid site is at Calle Valgrande, 17, 28108 Alcobendas, next to the A-1, with easy access from all of northern Madrid. The phone and WhatsApp number for Madrid is +34 665 245 143. We also work by appointment only.
We work with the same tooling, software and training as the official service network, but we take on module- and cell-level repairs the official network does not, at a considerably lower cost. EU Regulation 461/2010 also lets you keep the manufacturer warranty when servicing at an independent workshop that follows its schedules, as we do.
First, diagnosis with manufacturer tooling (from €60) to identify the real fault rather than the symptom. Then we send you a written, no-obligation quote. If you approve it, we do the work — batteries in a segregated high-voltage room — and when you collect the car you receive the technical report and a 2-year written warranty.
Pure EVs every 30,000 km or once a year, whichever comes first. Plug-in hybrids keep the combustion-side intervals (15,000–20,000 km) plus an electrical system check. We recommend adding an annual battery state-of-health (SoH) check, which flags faults and range loss early.
It is, when the team is trained and the facilities meet the protocols. All our technicians hold specific high-voltage training, we use the right PPE (class 0 gloves, dielectric mats, insulated tools) and we have a segregated area for pack work.
Yes, Tesla is one of our specialities. We repair Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X: MCU screen, 12 V battery, pack cooling, module replacement, reprogramming, bodywork and paint. We work with access to the manufacturer diagnostic tools, which is unusual outside the official network.
Yes, we are an authorised service point for the main wallbox brands. We diagnose, repair and replace, and we also carry out new installations with certification. A full installation usually runs €800–€1,800. If your charger throws errors, we can inspect it at your home.
Yes, we have our own recovery truck plus a partner collection service across the Barcelona and Madrid provinces. We arrange collection at your home or workplace and return the car once repaired. Where the work requires it, we arrange a replacement vehicle too.
We work by appointment only so we can guarantee turnaround times and have the right technician for your model. Book on WhatsApp: +34 622 552 992 (Barcelona) or +34 665 245 143 (Madrid). For emergencies we try to fit the vehicle in the same day.
All our repairs and installations carry a 2-year written warranty. With the vehicle we hand over an exit report detailing everything done, the parts replaced and the diagnostic values before and after the work.
If you are in the Barcelona area, the closest site is Sant Joan Despí (Carrer del Tambor del Bruc, 3), with collection across the province. In Madrid, the Alcobendas site (Calle Valgrande, 17) covers the capital and the north. In other provinces we have recovery and partner services: message us on WhatsApp and we will find the best option.
Yes, it is one of our most requested services. We measure real battery state of health (SoH), review the service history, the electronics and the structure, and give you a report signed by our lead technician before you commit to the purchase.
